Some late night, a couple months ago, I received a text message: "New York not so great. Thinking of coming back"
Our old bassist/guitarist/ vocalist/ sweet-equipment-hoarder Nash Grey is coming back to the fold. I mean, he's got a house and lovely gal in Austin, I can see how it might hold certain charms for him. But most of all (so he told me, with a Chuck-Heston-as-Moses seriousness in his voice): "I had to come back for the band." Which plays perfectly into my ambitions to water and grow this band into a sprawling, barely functional, Pogues-esque monstrosity.
So, once again, our band just got handsomer. "Three guitarists" is the new "girl with violin". We're indulging in multi-instrumentalism. We'll be like a dumb, American, public-school-attending version of a Canadian band.
