Mostly, I’m bored with Myspace as some sort of resource/compass/marketing tool for bands. Which means I’m going to be bored with Facebook at some point. I got bored with Twitter in less than 180 characters! (snare.tom.crash!) We made a website to prove, that while we might be lazy, at least we’re not lazy. Oddly enough, I put up this blog to cover all the necessary facespace/ twitter/ blog/ youtube requirements that web-savvy bands must fulfill (“web-savvy” is a phrase that makes my skin crawl) – the blog, the most antiquated internet form on our website, is the one I’m enjoying most.
When I was young, the best I could hope for from most bands I liked was 1/3 page in Spin. The Internet changed that, first as obsessed fans compiled every zine scrap available about anybody, and then as band’s themselves took over their content. I was especially fond of the section on Dismemberment Plan’s website where they detailed the equipment they used (its still there, just not with pictures like it used to be).
So I’m hanging out here… bloggin’. I wonder if anyone actually clicks that link? There’s probably some way to link this blog so it magically appears on Facebook, but then there’s none of maze-like adventure that made the Internet so charming in the first place. Perhaps assuming that no one is paying attention will keep me honest.
But Myspace, I’m not so keen on it anymore. I don’t think I ever really was. Perhaps I’m just mad at it, because we didn’t become a phenomenon as a result of Myspace, like Lily Allen, and now that time has passed. Oh well. Ohwell. Owl.
