ENCORE
I just read a review of the Girls show at the Parish, which detailed the fact that the band stood in the venue's equipment closet in order to evoke the necessary "we've gone backstage, but your cheers brought us back" illusion of the encore. This makes me remember playing an overzealous crowd at a house show - we crouched down behind our amplifiers and instructed the audience that we'd "come back out" and play an encore if they were enthusiastic enough. It was stupid and kind of funny. It was a stupid and kind of funny time in our lives, though.
